Logo: Step-by-step Guide

Below is a step-by-step guide on how I made my Logo design -

The first step i took was scanning my hand-drawn image of the circus
into my computer to put onto Photoshop to edit.
I then started experimenting with the design i wanted to make
by adding in a circle to make the logo circular shaped, using it
as a path for my text as i wanted it to be curved.

Here i have started to add in the text to my logo. I have made
a path for the text to follow when being typed, creating a curved
effect that i wanted. I wanted the text to curve around the image
so i wouldn't have to have a circle featured in the logo but have the
effect that it does as a text circles around the image.

Here is a screenshot of my finished logo design after i had
altered the colours to how i felt made the logo stand out.

My Finished Logo Design

Printed below is my finished logo design. I chose to do my logo for the American TV show American Horror Story: Freakshow. The Show is based around a circus in the year 1952 so i wanted my logo to have that old look to it to resemble the circus posters/logos i drew inspiration from. I chose to draw my logo by hand as i wanted it to have that particular look of it being 'Homemade' as most circuses are independent companies that make up their own logos as they travel . I then scanned it into Adobe Illustrator to add additional colouring and text.

Task: Record Cover Design

Task: Record Cover Design

For this task i had to design and create a record cover using Adobe Photoshop to edit. There was a twist though, instead of being able to just pick our own photos and make up a singers/band name we had to instead do three random searches. The first search being to a random Wikipedia page to find the artists name, the second being to a random quotes page, which we had to scroll to the bottom and use the last 4/5 words from the last quote on the page, and lastly the third search being from a random flickr page, using the third picture along as the image for my record cover.

Record Cover: Step-by-step Guide

Below is a step-by-step guide on how I made my Record cover

I used Photoshop to edit together my record cover design.
When adding in my text i wanted to pick something simple and not too fancy as
my image is already quite eye-catching and i didn't want my text to make it look
to crowded and busy.
I decided i had to edit the image somehow as i didn't want to just leave it as
it is. I clicked to show the grid as this would help me select as close as i could
to the middle. Once i did that i used the select tool to draw a box around half
of the image to make that one half turn black and white, keeping the other half
coloured.

Here is a screenprint of my finished record cover design. I like the final outcome
of the image, it being half coloured and half black and white, as it give the cover
an effective look.

Link to a random Wikipedia search to find the Artist/Band name for my record cover http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trechus

Link a randoms quote page, which you had to use the last 4/5 words of the last quote on the page to get the title of the record http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3

Link to the original image i chose by doing a random flickr search https://www.flickr.com/photos/paolomp19/15766406029/

I liked the way i decided to edit the image, by selecting half of the image and changing it to black and white it give this eye-catching effect which went perfectly with the random album title "My misery is your pleasure, as when we focus on the words, "misery" associates with black and white while "pleasure" would be seen as colourful.
